A Virginia tradition kicks off Thursday; the Virginia Film Festival.
This year's festival has something for everyone, from old classics and children's movies, to new independent films
This is the 26th year of the festival, and organizers are kicking it off Thursday night with a gala celebrating classic Hollywood. There will also be a screening of Alexander Payne's "Nebraska", which will feature Saturday Night Live alum Will Forte.
The film festival was created in the 1980's as a way to stimulate the area's economy, and has since grown to entertain national and international audiences.
For the past four years, the festival has seen record sales and attendance, and organizers are hoping to continue the trend this year. The weekend boasts a roster of industry insiders, and VIP guests, who will be giving talks and attending screening, like Tipi Hendren, star of the 1963 Hitchcock thriller "The Birds."
Tickets are still available for this weekend's films. they can be purchased for individual screenings, or as a weekend pass.
