Weather Doesn’t Stop Shoppers from Getting in the Holiday Mood

December 14, 2013

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas with snowflakes falling, carolers singing and shoppers buying gifts rain or shine.

“Snow doesn't bother us,” says Leigh Ann Kurz. “We're just in this area for the weekend for my husband's birthday and we just decided to go shopping, do some Christmas shopping.”

Kurz had the same idea as many other people shopping along the Downtown Mall on Saturday, and store owners believe the snowflakes are falling in their favor.

“Today, where it's kind of looking like a few snowflakes it's even better, because it gets people in the mood,” says Lynne Goldman, owner of Lynne Goldman Elements.

This is the season of giving and with nearly two weeks away before Christmas, it's getting close to crunch time.

“Everyone is looking at the calendar,” says Goldman. “It doesn't matter, you gotta get out. This is the perfect place to get in the mood.”

The store manager at Boutique Boutique says Saturdays are typically busy, but with Christmas in the back of many people's minds they are determined to shop through weather changes.

“Despite the potential for bad weather, it's been good so far,” says Genni Cox. “It's the kind of Christmas/Holiday spirit, so I'd say things have been pretty steady today which is nice.”
