A new City Council candidate has joined the race.
On Wednesday, Wes Bellamy announced he wants a seat on Council.
He stopped by the Newplex to share why he should be a leader in the community, and the challenges facing the city.
He says he hopes to continue his acts of community service, citing a coat drive for the local homeless, a backpacks and school supplies giveaway for area students, and more.
"I'm an individual who's not going to start doing these things, but I'm going to continue to do these things. I also bring a different amount of energy to council," said Bellamy.
Bellamy two issues facing Charlottesville he thinks are important are education and helping small businesses and people find employment.
