Patriotism in the Park, Charlottesville's biggest Fourth of July celebration, starts at 6 o'clock Thursday evening at McIntire Park, and it doesn't hurt to plan ahead to enjoy the show.
Here is what you need to know:
Parking will be available at the Albemarle County office building on the corner of McIntire Road and Preston Avenue. A shuttle will be making runs between McIntire Park and the parking office building.
If you decide to walk instead of taking the shuttle, bear in mind that the construction of the 250 bypass cuts off the sidewalks and that the site is zoned as no trespassing.
You can also park at Charlottesville High School and walk to the park.
The fireworks begin one minute after the sun goes down, but there is plenty to do before hand.
In addition to a bounce and play for the kids and food vendors, a stage is setup for live bands.
Erin and the Wildfire will take the stage at 6pm, followed by Emma Leigh at 7pm and Scott Tiernan at 8pm.
You can also pack your own food and drink and don't forget to bring bug spray, blanket, and chairs.
