Wintry Weather Causes Slick Road Conditions

January 29, 2013

Monday morning got off to a slick start, as some areas in central Virginia saw sleet and freezing rain.

The higher elevations especially parts of Nelson County had more wintry weather which caused some slick conditions on parts of route 29 and 151.

Freezing rain also could be spotted on surfaces like fences and trees.

Due to the icy conditions, many public and private schools all across central Virginia either opened two hours late or closed for the day. For some school districts, this was third day of delays and closing.
