A Charlottesville woman is facing two counts of animal cruelty after police say they found two dogs left abandoned in an apartment for several days.
When police responded to the home on September 17 on the 1400 block of Vine Street, they say they found a large brown female mixed shepherd dog with duct tape wrapped around the muzzle. The second dog was a small black female poodle mix.
Police say their investigation determined the dogs had been left in the apartment for several days without food and water.
Loretta Watkins, 40, was arrested on the two misdemeanor charges after an investigation. She has a court hearing scheduled for November 5 at Charlottesville General District Court.
