Young American's for Freedom, along with the Burke Society, hosted a 9/11 Memorial on grounds Wednesday night.

The event started at 8:00pm and featured speakers, a procession by UVa's Air Force ROTC Color Guard, a candle-light vigil, prayer, and a moment of silence.

They say they wanted to help students remember the people who died on September 11, 2001, and the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform, and their families. Specifically, two University of Virginia Alumni, Glenn Kirwin and Patrick Murphy, who were at the World Trade Center and died in the attacks.

"We want to make sure that all of the students on grounds understand that freedom does not come free, there's a huge cost and that cost is the lives of Patrick and Sean, of everybody else who died on that day, of our military." says Anthony Hadford, Founder of the UVa Chapter of Young Americans for Freedom.

Around fifty people came out for the memorial.
