Two cases of meningitis have been confirmed in Caroline County.
The Rappahannock Area Health District says one student has viral meningitis and the other has bacterial meningitis. The Free Lance-Star reports that the students attend Bowling Green Primary and Caroline Middle schools.
Health officials say the exposure risk to other students is limited at best in the bacterial meningitis case, while there's no exposure risk in the viral meningitis case.
Health and school officials are working to identify and treat others who may have been exposed.
Meningitis can be spread by human saliva or mucous.
