The race was designed to give students a healthy alternative to high risk drinking as the last home football game approaches. Close to 600 runners took part in the fund raiser.
“We’re just really trying to encourage students to act and think responsibly and to take care of themselves and their friends. Also make healthy decisions whether they choose to drink or choose not to drink,” race coordinator Sarah Strunk said.
Proceeds go to a scholarship fund in memory of a UVA student who died in an alcohol related accident.
