A UVA student was hospitalized this week for the bacteria associated meningitis.
The 19-year-old does not have the disease but there is evidence of a blood stream infection.
The male student was admitted to the emergency room after complaining of symptoms like a high fever and severely aching joints.
"fortunately he has responded very well to antibiotics and will be going home," said Dr. James C. Turner, UVA student health director.
The health department investigated and determined that only five students in close relation to the infected patient were at serious risk of getting infected.
Those five students were treated and released.
