The swine flu hit close to home at the Newsplex. On Monday, we learned that Newsplex Reporter Stephanie Satchell had the virus. She's back to work on Friday and feeling much better. She spoke with Anchor Cheryn Stone about her illness and her recovery. Here's the Q & A.
Cheryn: How are you feeling today?
Stephanie: Well, I am feeling so much better. I'm back to my old self: Bubbly, happy, and cheery. I've got a few sniffles, and a little bit of a cough, but overall I feel much better.
Cheryn: What kind of medicine are you on? What kind of care are you receiving, and have you had any help recovering?
Stephanie: I've been taking Tamiflu. The doctor prescribed me two a day for 5 days. So I've been taking that. In addition to the medicine, I've also been resting a lot, drinking plenty of fluids, and of course getting some good old fashioned TLC from my mother.
Cheryn: What would your advice be to someone feeling sick that's [reading] this?
Stephanie: If you notice that you're feeling like you're coming down with the flu or something that maybe you've never experienced before, it's probably in your best interest to go ahead and get to the doctor as soon as possible. The earlier you get there, the earlier the doctor can go ahead and start you on medications that can help you with a speedy recovery.
Cheryn: When did you start feeling better?
Stephanie: Honestly, Wednesday. I started making a turn around Wednesday evening. Thursday was probably the day when everything started coming back to normal. Of course today I'm feeling pretty close to normal.
Cheryn: What would you say to someone [reading] this?
Stephanie: I'd just say, again, if you're feeling bad just go ahead and give your doctor a call. It's better to be safe than sorry. Even if you don't have the swine flu, you still need to get in there, and get checked out to make sure it's nothing else.
