The Food and Drug Administration recently approved a new vaccine for the 2010 flu season that will protect against three strains of the Influenza virus, including the H1N1 Swine Flu.
In 2009, you may remember, health officials encouraged Americans to get two flu shots after the emergence of the H1N1 virus. However, officials say the newly approved vaccine is all you need in 2010. It will fight off several strains of the virus and help you stay Influenza free.
"We'll be getting one flu shot this year, which will be easier for the majority of the people," said Yvonne Rice.
According to the Center for Disease control, between five and twenty percent of the U.S. population develops the flu, 36,000 of which die each year. So, health officials are still encouraging people to get the new 2010 vaccine to help prevent the spread of the virus this flu season.
