Researchers studying health statistics say several local areas rank relatively high when compared with other cities and counties statewide.
Albemarle County is the fifth healthiest in the state and the City of Charlottesville ranks 44th. That's out of a total of 132 cities and counties across the Commonwealth.
The rankings by researchers from a foundation and from the University of Wisconsin are based on how long people live and how healthy they feel.
Statewide, Fairfax County is considered the healthiest jurisdiction and the City of Emporia, along the North Carolina state line, is considered the least healthy.
