Police from New York to South Carolina Worked to Keep Route 15 Safe

Six state police and highway patrol agencies spent Memorial Day Weekend, June 7 to June 9, enforcing Operation Border to Border along Route 15 in an effort to prevent traffic accidents along the heavily-traveled corridor.

A total of 1,855 summonses and arrests were made between New York and South Carolina. A total of 28 drunk drivers were taken off the road. Troopers cited 260 seat belt violations, 11 child restraint violations, and gave out 684 tickets for speeding. The operation also netted 25 felony and misdemeanor arrests. Troopers also provided assistance to 56 drivers along the route.

Virginia State Troopers issued a total of 431 summonses/arrests, of which 192 were for speeding.

No traffic fatalities occurred during the three day project.
