Former University of Virginia football player Ausar Walcott has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and other charges in New Jersey.

The Cleveland Browns released Walcott on Wednesday, after he was arrested for allegedly punching Derek Jones in the head outside a club.

Jones is now reportedly in a medically induced coma, and listed in critical condition.

Walcott is being represented by a public defender while he attempts to hire an attorney.

He is being held on $500,000 bail.
