One of the 5th District candidates for Congress is volunteering to give up his campaign, but there's a big "if" involved in the decision.
A recent article in the Daily Progress Sunday, August 29 described independent candidate Jeff Clark's financial woes. Clark responded to the article, saying the information was leaked the the paper. In a press release to the media on the topic, Clark had this to say about the information leak:
"I was presented this information and was informed that it did not have to become public if I reconsider my position and dropped out of the race."
Clark says he will end his campaign for the 5th District Congressional seat if the person responsible for the information leak comes forward. He says that's the only way the public will find out about what Clark calls "back room dealing".
Clark says some of the issues are correct and some are not, and has claimed he will post a detailed explanation of the bankruptcy and the items that are erroneous on his website.
Clark is a longshot candidate facing Democratic incumbent Tom Perriello and Republican challenger Robert Hurt.
