Barack Obama and John McCain picked up the first prizes of the night with wins in the small state of Vermont, but the big prizes are Texas and Ohio.
Sen. John McCain moved closer to clinching the Republican nomination Tuesday, winning 17 delegates in Vermont's winner-take-all primary. Obama won at least eight delegates in Vermont, with seven more
still to be awarded.

Meanwhile McCain awaits a clear Democratic challenger.
