McCain On the Offensive; Clinton Vows To Stay In Race

March 31, 2008

Republican John McCain is going on the offensive, despite not knowing for certain who he'll face in the general election.

"It's great to be back to see the Blue Angels," said McCain.

He's hitting the campaign trail on a five-state bus tour to re-introduce himself to voters after launching his first television ad of the general election.

On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton says she's staying in the race against Barack Obama, despite some in the party who say a pro-longed fight between the two democrats could weaken the candidate who ends-up facing McCain.

"There are some folks saying well we oughta stop these elections. I didn't think we believed that in America," said Clinton.

Clinton and Obama are looking ahead to the Pennsylvania primary coming up April 22nd. Clinton has won primaries in the biggest states so far but Obama has won more total contests and leads in the overall race for delegates. Obama gave his opinion of whether Clinton should drop out.

"My attitude is that Senator Clinton can run as long as she wants. her name is on the ballot. and she's a fierce and formidable competitor. And she obviously believes that she would make the best nominee and the best president," said Obama.

The race between the two Democrats is so tight, it's likely neither candidate will get the necessary 2,024 delegates needed to clinch the party's nomination before their August convention.
