John McCain Stops in Northern Virgina, Discusses Virginia's Importance

June 16, 2008

Likely Republican Presidential nominee John McCain made a stop in Northern Virginia on Monday.

The Arizona lawmaker told a crowd of reporters he plans to fight for the support of the commonwealth, "I will be mentioning I was once in the United States Navy, stationed there, the Commonwealth of Virginia in the Tidewater area, so we have to work hard here in Virginia. I do not take it lightly. I watched the results of recent elections in this state, so I do have a lot of work to do."

Senator McCain also called himself the underdog in the November election, despite having more experience than his opponent, Barack Obama.
