Democrats Start Raising Money for Gubernatorial Elections

July 7, 2008

Virginia's gubernatorial elections are still more than a year away, but the Democratic candidates are already raising a lot of money.

Brian Moran's campaign says it raised more than $1.3 million since January.

That's more than Governor Kaine raised during the same period in 2004.

Rival Creigh Deeds is expected to announce his fundraising totals on the July 15th deadline.

So far, Attorney General Bob Mcdonnell is the only Republican candidate running for the office.
