Gov. Kaine Speaks Out Against McCain

August 18, 2008

Virginia Governor and potential VP running mate for Senator Barack Obama (D), Tim Kaine (D), spoke candidly about John McCain Sunday morning on NBC's Meet the Press.

"My thought about Senator McCain's tough talk is this: Teddy Roosevelt said talk softly and carry a big stick. In much of the world now we're talking loudly and have no stick," said Gov. Kaine.

Kaine has spoken publically many times in support of Barack Obama and the two men have formed a bond that goes beyond politics. Obama was one of the first people to publically support Kaine's run for Governor in Virginia, and Kaine returned the favor, supporting Obama's run for the White House.

Here in Virginia, the race for the White House is as close as ever. Of the two polls conducted early last week, one has John McCain on top of Barack Obama by a single point, the other has the candidates tied.
