Gallup Poll: Obama Maintains Lead over McCain

September 4, 2008

(AP) - A new Gallup poll suggests Barack Obama's lead over John McCain is virtually unchanged since the GOP convention began.

The poll is based on interviews conducted Monday through Wednesday. It shows the Democrat leading among respondents 49 to 42 percent. All but a few of the interviews were conducted before
Sarah Palin gave her speech last night.

Obama led by 6 percentage points in a Gallup survey conducted
last weekend, prior to the start of the Republican gathering.
