Gilmore Communications Director Suspeded over email

September 19, 2008

The Jim Gilmore campaign announced Friday that its Communications Director has been suspended for sending an unauthorized email.

Ana Gamonal used her home computer to send an email to the Mark Warner Campaign under a false name. That email asked the Warner campaign to add her to their press list.

After learning of the incident the Republican Senate Candidate's campaign suspended Gamonal for two weeks without pay.

"Governor Gilmore believes the people of Virginia are entitled to full transparency and he will not tolerate any activity by his campaign or by those who work for him that is contrary to that belief, " the Gilmore Campaign said in a statement.

In her statement, Ms. Gamonal said, "I apologize for my lack of judgment, and I also apologize to both former Gov. Warner and Gov. Gilmore for my inappropriate email."
