Mississippi Governor Expects Debate to Go Forward

September 25, 2008

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour says he expects the first presidential debate to go ahead, though he says he doesn't have any inside information.

Barbour spoke to reporters Thursday at a news conference on the campus of the University of Mississippi, site of the debate.

Republican John McCain had suggested Wednesday that the debate
be postponed as Congress and the White House try to forge a bailout
to the nation's financial meltdown.
