Reactions to the Bailout on the Campaign Trail

September 25, 2008

In campaign '08, the election and the economy are deeply intertwined.

McCain spoke to the Clinton Global Initiative summit in New York, where he said time was running out to save the economy.

He then went to Washington to meet with the President and Barack Obama on the financial bailout.

Barack Obama addressed the gathered leaders at the initiative via satellite a short time later.

Senator Obama agreed that a quick economic solution is imperative, but insisted that now is a time for campaigning more than ever.

The Illinois Democrat also pledged to go on with the first scheduled presidential debate, despite his opponents insistence that the event be postponed until a financial fix is reached.
