(AP) - Democrat Barack Obama is upping the ante in Virginia, returning Wednesday for his eighth trip into the state since June.
Obama has scheduled a noon rally at the 12,000-seat Richmond Coliseum. At 5:30 p.m., he plans to hold a rally at Ida Lee Park in Leesburg.
For the first time in the memory of most Virginians, their state is up for grabs and fiercely contested by both presidential candidates.
Obama was in Roanoke Friday and McCain was in Woodbridge Saturday and Virginia Beach last Monday.
Overall, it marks the eleventh appearance in Virginia for Obama, his running mate, Joe Biden, or the two combined since June.
Republican John McCain and his running mate, Sarah Palin, have held four Virginia events over that span.
