Update: Voter Turnout at 59.4% in Albemarle County, 65% in Charlottesville

Predictions of high voter turnout this election day appear to be accurate.

As of 4:00 pm Tuesday, In Albemarle County 59.4% of eligible voters have cast their ballot--that's 40,005 people.

The City of Charlottesville is reporting a 65% turnout--that's 18,655 people including absentee ballots.

There have not been any reports of problems at the polls in this area.

Polls close at 7 p.m., but if you are in line by that time you will be allowed to vote.

As of 4pm in the City:

Recreation – 2,430 votes cast – 52.75% of precinct

Clark – 1,557 votes cast – 49.52% of precinct

Carver – 1.173 votes cast – 50.28% of precinct

Walker – 1,798 votes cast – 59.14% of precinct

Tonsler – 1,297 votes cast – 50.25% of precinct

JPA – 2,363 votes cast – 52.04% of precinct

Venable – 2,720 votes cast – 48.33% of precinct

Alumni Hall – 1,370 votes cast – 48.86% of precinct

Total City Voting Today – 14,708 out of 28,678 registered voters = 51.29%

Absentee – 3,947

Total City Voting Today – 18,655 out of 28,678 registered voters = 65%
