(AP) - Defrocked Virginia Republican Party Chairman Jeff Frederick has ruled out running to get the job back at the state GOP convention at the end of this month.
In a 1,300-word e-mail to supporters and reporters Monday, Frederick takes a broadside at the state party.
He said his ouster last month by the state GOP's central committee was "the latest in a long succession of efforts" by the party's establishment to ensure that it, not the Republican base, guides the party.
The central committee removed Frederick April 4, citing his handling of party finances and a disastrous election last year. Republicans lost statewide presidential and senatorial races and saw Democrats take three formerly Republican U.S. House seats.
