The race for the 5th District congressional seat is heating up as the candidates continue to make campaign stops.
Incumbent U.S. Rep. Robert Hurt (5th-District) made a Saturday morning stop at the Albemarle County Fair. The Republican says he believes his campaign is going very well so far and that the economy is one of his big priorities.
"We have and will continue to go around the district about the things we've tried to do to get our fiscal house in order, to try to free the economy so that it can grow and prosper and create the jobs that we need," Hurt said. "We'll continue to do that from now until election day."
Hurt also made campaign stops in Lynchburg as part of his 5th District tour.
