Health Care Reform Supporters to Hold "Thank You" Rally for Perriello

November 11, 2009

While some in the Charlottesville area are being critical of Congressman Tom Perriello's vote in favor of the health care reform bill, others are praising him.

Community members from Martinsville, Danville and the surrounding area will be joining the Virginia Organizing Project and Health Care for America Now (HCAN) to visit Representative Perriello’s office in Martinsville on Friday, November 13.

At 3:30 p.m, they'll be thanking the Congressman for his historic vote in favor of passing the House of Representative’s health care bill – the Affordable Health Care for America Act (H.R. 3962).

“The Congressman’s vote on Saturday night will help ensure quality, affordable health care for all Virginians. Voting ‘yes’ for health care legislation in the House, Rep. Perriello sends a clear signal that he stands on the side of the people of his district and understands the needs of small businesses, working families, seniors, the uninsured and under insured,” said Shokoufeh Dianat of the Virginia Organizing Project.

The "thank you" rally will take place at Perriello's Martinsville Office located on 10 E. Church Street Suite K.

On Tuesday, the 'Hands Off My Health Care' bus was back in Charlottesville to protest Perriello's support of the health care bill.

Outside of Perriello's office, people for and against the bill held competing rallies.
