Governor-Elect McDonnell Makes Key Appointments

December 3, 2009

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell has appointed two
top aides from his tenure as attorney general to key positions in
his administration.

In his first news conference since the day after last month's
election, McDonnell announced Thursday the first key staff
appointments for his administration, which begins Jan. 16.

Former aide Martin Kent will be McDonnell's chief of staff.
Marla Decker will serve as secretary of public safety. Both were
senior advisers to McDonnell when he was attorney general.

McDonnell also reappointed finance secretary Richard Brown to
serve in the same post. Brown has served Gov. Tim Kaine, a
Democrat, the final half of his term.

In addition, McDonnell named Eric Finkbeiner as his top policy
adviser. Finkbeiner had served under former Govs. Doug Wilder and
George Allen.
