Albemarle Co. Officials Receiving More Absentee Votes

Oct. 14, 2013

Albemarle County Voter Registrar Jake Washburne says there have been more and 160 in-person absentee voters so far this year, and about a hundred mailed-in ballots.

Washburne says there were only about 135 in-person absentee ballots for the 2009 governor's election.

Virginians who can't get out the polls on Election Day still have time to vote absentee.

"We're not an absolutely, a no excuse absentee voting state in Virginia," says Washburne. "But if you are going to be out of town on Election Day, you can certainly vote absentee if you are ill or infirm or if you have got to commute out of the area."

The deadline to register to vote for the November 5th election is tomorrow, Oct. 15th.

Mailed-in applications for ballots must be received at the Albemarle Co. Registrar by Oct. 29th.

The last date to vote by absentee ballot in person at Office of Voter
Registration is Nov. 2nd.
