There will be three more debates between U.S. Senate candidates George Allen and Tim Kaine before the Nov. 6 election.
Allen's campaign announced Thursday that it had agreed to a Sept. 20 debate in McLean hosted by the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce. It's been a staple for every modern statewide candidate for years and often generated news that affected the course of campaigns.
On Oct. 8, the Republican Allen and Democrat Kaine meet in a Richmond debate sponsored by AARP, public radio WCVE and WTVR-TV, the Richmond CBS affiliate.
The last debate is Oct. 18 on the Virginia Tech campus, hosted by the university and WSLS-TV, an NBC affiliate serving Roanoke and Lynchburg.
Kaine in June accepted all three of those debates and proposals for five more broadcast debates.
