Allen Reports $1.1M in Fundraising for Senate Race

July 13, 2011

Republican George Allen says his U.S. Senate campaign raised $1.1 million from April through June. That puts the former governor's total since he announced his candidacy in January at about $2.6 million.

Allen faces several conservative but little-known primary challengers. He could face Democratic former Gov. Tim Kaine in the November 2012 election. Kaine reported $2.25 million for the second quarter.

Kaine's campaign on Wednesday reported about $1.8 million on hand as of June 30, the end of the quarter. Allen's campaign did not immediately disclose its total on hand.

Both are running for the seat Democratic Sen. Jim Webb won in 2006 when he ousted Allen. Webb announced in February he would not seek a second term.
