Two Republican presidential prospects will speak at Liberty University in September.
Liberty Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. says Texas Gov. Rick Perry will speak at one of the university's thrice-weekly convocations Sept. 14 and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann will speak at another on Sept. 28.
Bachmann is founder of the U.S. House's Tea Party Caucus. She is an announced candidate for the Republican Party's presidential nomination.
Perry is in his 10th year as governor of Texas. Perry has said he is considering a presidential run.
Falwell said it is important to expose students at the Christian university to potential candidates. He said it is beneficial for the candidates to get a glimpse of how they'll be received in Christian circles.
A school spokesman says both were invited months ago.
