Dozens of supporters join the Democratic candidate Jane Dittmar as she officially announces her run for the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors.
Dittmar made her announcement on Wednesday afternoon at the Albemarle County Office Building. She is running for the Scottsville seat on the board, which has been temporarily filled by William "Petie" Craddock.
During the announcement, Dittmar discussed her plans for infrastructure improvements and stimulating the economy.
She says she has lived in the area for decades, and lived in the Scottsville district for 15 years, and she believes that will be very valuable to her in the November election.
"Knowing people already, knowing a lot of people throughout the district, reading the paper every day, reading two other papers weekly, it just all accumulated into a real understanding of what we're all about here in the county and also in the district," said Dittmar.
Dittmar also says she thinks transparency and accountability are needed to be a good representative.
