Candidates Prepare For Campaign Countdown

October 24, 2010

Election day is just nine days away and things are heating up in the 5th Congressional race.

Congressman Tom Perriello is starting a "24 Hours of Tom" campaign blitz at midnight on Monday. It will include 20 stops in 24 hours.

The congressman will be in our area Monday afternoon, meeting with small business owners at 3:15pm in Scottsville. He will be in Ivy at 4:15pm and will make a stop at UVa around 6:30pm. After talking to students, Perriello will debate Independent candidate, Jeff Clark.

Meanwhile, his competitor, Robert Hurt is still holding his ground in the 5th District.

Hurt received the endorsements of the Danville Register and Bee, the Lynchburg News and Advance and the Richmond Times Dispatch.

The editorial boards noted Hurt's strong commitment to reining in government spending, balancing the budget, and creating jobs.
