Voters had the chance to get to know candidates before Charlottesville's Democratic primary next month.
The Belmont-Carlton neighborhood association held a candidates forum for both City Council and Commonwealth's Attorney candidates running in the primary.
Candidates shared their platforms and answered questions about the Human Rights Commission, gay rights, small businesses, and the price of housing in Charlottesville.
Sandra Carter, who owns the Sixth Street Mini Mart, said she was happy with what City Council candidates are doing for small businesses.
"I think a lot of them answered questions I was looking for, they answered them really well. And it's good to know that one of the candidates that's running, he's a small business owner himself. So it would be great, it would have a lot of input into helping small business."
The Charlottesville City Council Democratic primary is on June 11.
