State Sen. Creigh Deeds (D-25th District) kicked off another canvass as part of a nationwide weekend of action for Barack Obama's presidential campaign.

"We've got 38 days to get this done. And if we don't get it done, it's on us," Deeds said to volunteers on Saturday.

He encouraged Obama supporters in Charlottesville to talk to their neighbors about the stark choice voters face on election day and why they think a Romney-Ryan ticket is the wrong choice.

"You'll always remember, that in the nations most historical election, you played a part," Deeds said.

Young or old, participants say they realize what is at stake in this year's election.

"I know that the policies that our president enacts will effect my generation and I want to have a say in what happens to me," Haley Arata, 17, said. "I'm going to college soon and I want to know that I'll be able to pay off all of my loans. I know Obama has my back on that," the Charlottesville High School senior said.

Similar events took place throughout the state with 33 total canvass launches.
