Democrats swept the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors in Tuesday's election.
In the Rio District, Democrat Brad Sheffield defeated Republican incumbent Rodney Thomas 57 percent to 43 percent.
In the Samuel Miller District, Democrat Liz Palmer also defeated Republican incumbent Duane Snow 57-percent to 43-percent.
In the Scottsville District, Democrat Jane Dittmar held onto a 58-percent to 42-percent lead over Republican Cindi Burket.
And in the Jack Jouett District race, two indepenents were running for the seat, Diantha McKeel and Phillip Seay. McKeel defeated Seay 70 percent to 30 percent.
The new members will lead to a Democrat controlled board of supervisors.
