The 2012 General Assembly session has reached its mid-point, or "crossover day", on Tuesday.

All bills passed in the House of Delegates are now going to the Senate, and vice versa, all bills that passed the Senate are now going to the House.

The GOP passed some unprecedented legislation with control of both the House and the Senate, which included restrictions on abortions, illegal immigrants and homosexuals seeking to adopt.

"In our view, from the Democratic side, it's a classic case of misplaced priorities and overreaching in the social arena," said Del. David Toscano (D-57th). "We're concerned about the budget and how the budget takes money away from school funding and public safety and puts it in transportation."

The bills now have to pass the other legislative body before they will go to the governor's desk. The budget will also be unveiled in Richmond on Sunday.
