George Allen Makes Campaign Stops in Charlottesville

July 28, 2012

U.S. Senate candidate George Allen made a number of stops in the Charlottesville area Saturday.

The former Republican governor stopped by the African American Cultural Arts Festival at Washington Park Saturday morning after another stop at the city market.

Allen spent his time meeting voters and talking about his plans for simpler tax laws, better use of American energy and exploring different approaches in health care.

He said momentum for his campaign has been growing since last week's debate with his competitor, former Democratic Gov. Tim Kaine.

"People who pay taxes, people who particularly care about the promise of the American dream for their children, seem to be coming to our campaign," he said. "It's not just Republicans. It's independents and even some Democrats."

After his Charlottesville stops, Allen went to Greene County for a campaign event and then Madison County for a GOP barbecue.
