Gov. McDonnell Makes Ammendments to Several Bills

March 26, 2013

Governor Bob McDonnell made amendments to several bills passed by the General Assembly.

The first includes penalties for texting while driving. The minimum fine has been lowered to $125, and the maximum is now $250. Police can still pull drivers over simply for texting.

The annual hybrid vehicle fee in the Transportation Funding Reform Bill has been lowered from $100 to $64.

Governor McDonnell also changed Virginia's insurance laws. Under his amendments, no insurance plan sold through a health benefits exchange can provide abortion coverage.
