Congressman-elect Robert Hurt made a stop in Charlottesville Saturday afternoon.
Lord Hardwicke's on Emmett Street hosted the state senator. The Republican from Chatham wanted to thank his supporters who helped him defeat incumbent Congressman Tom Perriello in the midterm elections.
Hurt said he's pleased with the election results in the northern end of the 5th District.
"My No. 1 priority, of course, as a member of Congress will be to serve the people that I represent," Hurt told CBS19. "Constituent services has always been a top priority for me as a member of the Virginia General Assembly, and obviously we want to be able to hit the ground running."
Since the election, Hurt has made the trip to Washington a few times for orientation, and he said he looks forward to start serving the district in less than one month.
