Isolated Voting Issues Reported Across Virginia

November 8, 2011

The State Board of Elections is reporting some isolated voting issues across Virginia but says most of the problems are normal for Election Day.

Officials say issues included properly booting up electronic pollbooks and making sure voting equipment is working.

Electricity issues were reported in Chesterfield County but equipment remained operational and no voters were turned away.

More than 950 voters in Henrico County were not listed in pollbooks and voters were given provisional ballots.

There was some voter confusion over polling places in Fairfax County and issues were reported in Isle of Wight over pollbooks and voting machines.

Voters in Giles County had to cast paper ballots after a voting machine went down.

Officials say there also were some resolved complaints about political volunteers too close to polling locations.
