Judge to Decide if Supervisor Dumler Can Stay in Office

May 19, 2013

A judge will decide on Monday if Albemarle County supervisor Chris Dumler can stay in his post.

Dumler will be in Albemarle County Circuit Court to fight a petition filed earlier this year with 580 signatures pushing to oust him from office. Dumler pleaded guilty to a sex charge in January.

The petition argues Dumler isn't able to fulfill his duties as an elected official with the conviction hanging over his head. He's already resigned from a number of boards and commissions at the request of his fellow supervisors.

There will be a camera in the courtroom. The Newsplex will provide a live stream of the proceedings on Monday when the trial begins around 1 p.m.
