Kaine for Virginia Tuesday announced that in the final quarter of 2011 the campaign raised approximately $1.65 million and has $3.3 million cash on hand.
Since the campaign kicked-off on April 5, 2011, Kaine for Virginia says it has raised more than $5.2 million from over 12,000 supporters.
“I’m overwhelmed and sincerely grateful for the enthusiastic support we’ve received in the first nine months of this campaign,” said Tim Kaine, a Democratic U.S. Senate candidate. “Anne and I were thrilled to welcome more than 400 supporters to our official campaign headquarters opening in Richmond on Sunday."
Republican U.S. Senate candidate George Allen says he collected a little more than $1 million in the final three months of last year and started 2012 with about $2 million on hand. That would bring total fundraising for Allen's quest to win back the Senate seat he lost to Democrat Jim Webb in 2006 to about $4.5 million since he started his campaign a year ago.
