United State Senate candidate Tim Kaine (D-Virginia) Monday visited and toured a growing Albemarle County company.
The former Governor of Virginia spoke to employees at Mikro, a high-tech manufacturing company that develops high-performance products.
The discussion focused on job growth. Kaine answered questions about the upcoming election, in which he will likely run against Republican George Allen. Kaine said Mikro is the kind of company the state and country needs.
"I would say Mikro is an example of the forward-looking Virginia economy and the forward-looking American economy," he said. "And companies like this being successful is what it's going to take for us to have the kind of economic acceleration that we need."
Kaine says the upcoming Senate election is basically a tie at this point, and he expects a tight campaign all the way until Nov. 6.
