Lt. Gov. Bolling: Candidates Need to Talk About the Issues

Sept. 12, 2013

New polling in the race for governor continues to show Virginians aren't too happy with the main choices for governor.

The Purple Strategies poll gives Democrat Terry McAuliffe a five-point lead over Republican Ken Cuccinelli. The poll also shows neither candidate is particularly well-liked.

Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling stopped by the Newsplex on Thursday. He said McAuliffe and Cuccinelli need to tone down the negative ads, and instead talk about they would do as governor.

“I think the candidates have tried to talk about the issues, the problem is the voter has to dig so deeply to find their position on the issues because the issues have been drowned out by the millions of dollars they've spent on negative attack ads. I'd like to see the issues come back to the forefront.”

Bolling plans to continue his work getting mainstream candidates elected to Richmond. He will not be endorsing any candidate in the governor's race.
