Gov. Bob McDonnell signed into law this weekend a human trafficking bill first proposed by Del. Rob Bell (R-58th District).
House Bill 1870 adds the offense of receiving money for procuring a person to the list of offenses a grand jury can investigate in human trafficking cases.
Bell said this is important since these crimes can stretch across multiple jursidictions.
The bill was part of the legislative package to address human trafficking in Virginia. It will take effect July 1.
